Paralympics Australia is working with the six Victorian Regional Academies of Sport (VRAS), to reduce the barriers for para-athletes living in regional Victoria.
Through the support of Sport & Recreation Victoria Together More Active funding, Paralympics Australia is seeking para-athletes across Regional Victoria to become Individual members to a relevant Academy, in their regional area. This will provide the athlete with strength and conditioning training, athlete education and a range of local benefits through the RAS, as well as additional support from Paralymics Australia throughout the course of the program in the hopes of providing regionally based para-athletes additional support to progress on their chosen performance pathways.
Each BSA partner sport provides sport specific practical training opportunities for their athletes. These sessions are of an elite standard and will most often be conducted by a specialist coach at either State or National level. The format for each sport’s practical program will be developed to service the needs of the athletes and compliment the training and competition loads.
Each of our Partner Sports has a program manager who works with an advisory panel to formulate a practical program that aims to enhance the athletes coaching and all round development.
