In 2018 Deakin and the BSA have built on their partnership, with two strength and conditioning sessions to be run out of their state of the art gym. In addition to this Deakin continue on as the apparel sponsor for the BSA, providing three pieces of uniform for all athletes.
As with previous years Deakin will continue to provide a fantastic opportunity for past/and or present BSA athletes looking to further their studies in the areas of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences.
The School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences at Deakin University will provide a $500 award* to athletes who are and/or have been members of the Barwon Academy of Sport on successful admission to the Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science at the Deakin University Waurn Ponds campus.
When an eligible athlete first enrols into the course they should contact the CEO of Barwon Sports Academy to obtain a letter confirming membership with the Barwon Sports Academy and this letter should be subsequently sent to the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences Executive Officer so payment of the award can occur.
*Award will be issued to student after 31 March census date if they remained enrolled in the course
Testimonial from a former BSA athlete's parent
My daughter Emily Davis was a part of the BSA netball program in 2014. Emily really got a lot out of her year in BSA and the most surprising thing came about from the Careers in Sport session she attended at Deakin University. After attending the session at Deakin Emily was really interested in the Sports Science course and she extended her research and found the Biomedical Science course at Deakin Geelong. This became her first choice course and she was accepted earlier this year. I believe that the BSA session she attended really opened Emily’s eyes to what Deakin has to offer. I realise these sessions can be difficult to arrange but I hope they do continue so others can benefit from them. Please pass on my appreciation to all those involved
Thanks again
Trevor Davis
