Education Program

Education Program

The BSA Education Program is designed to support the holistic development of emerging athletes by complementing their sporting pathway with targeted education. The program equips athletes with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to pursue excellence in sport while also preparing them for life beyond competition.

Through a structured and age-appropriate curriculum, athletes engage in key areas such as goal setting, wellbeing, nutrition, injury prevention, mental fitness, media awareness, career planning, and personal responsibility. The program is delivered by experienced practitioners and industry experts, with a strong focus on real-world application and athlete relevance. Experienced athletes who have been in our program from more than two years will have the opportunity to work with our Pathways and Programs Lead to identify and target specific needs to support their development.

By integrating education alongside high-performance training, the Barwon Sports Academy ensures athletes develop not only as competitors, but as confident, resilient, and well-rounded individuals capable of thriving in both sport and life.

We will maximise the time that athletes are with their coaches and sporting squads, so that our presenters can focus on fundamental learnings on physical, mental, technical, and tactical elements specific to the sports. Where possible we will add mentors and past BSA athlete from that sport to support the understanding through prior experiences. A parent / guardian education series will be incorporated into programming similar to previous years to ensure families are equipped with the knowledge and strategies to effectively support their child’s development, wellbeing, and performance.
