Winter is Andy Deans time to shine, as the BSA Snowboarder has had plenty of success this snow season!
Andy first hit the slopes at the Victoria Interschool’s Snow Sports event, competing in three snowboarding events and one skiing event.
In a pretty successful day at the office, Andy bought home a Gold in two events; Giant Slalom and Slope Style. He also finished with a Silver in the Snowboarder Cross event and fourth place finish in the Skier Cross event.
As well as a fantastic individual performance, Andy was also apart of the Boys Division Two team representing Geelong College, who also won First place on the podium in all four of their events.
These fantastic results saw Andy and his team qualify for Nationals up at Mount Buller!
Two weeks later it was back to Mount Buller for the Australian Interschool Snowsports National Championships.
Individually, Andy had another stellar performance in the Snowboard GS, taking out the Gold and claiming the Australian National Champion title! He also won Bronze in the Snowboard X event.
Keeping the performances coming Andy, along with teammates Emerson Facer & Alexander White claimed Gold in the Division Two Teams Snowboard GS and Snowboard X, coming home Australian National Champions!
It is marvellous to see such performance on both an Individual and team level, by an athlete that has backed it up with only having a two-week gap between the major competitions!
